Update: Myleadernews publisher happy with decisions and life

This can be considered an update of the update.
It’s true that I am satisfied with the decisions I have recently made concerning the publication and also my real life.
I have not had any fits of anger, nor any sadness since I made these decisions.
First off, as previously stated, I no longer even look at the other local online publication, even though I know I am being bombarded with negative remarks (friends tell me) by those operating it (who is really in charge any more of operating it?)
What I plan to continue doing is presenting articles of interest and columns, perhaps controversial, perhaps not.
I have said and I repeat I do not plan on changing my rules — which are few — concerning blogs.
Anyone who abides by those rules can make statements here.
I have been told I must change because of so many bloggers who use various names. So what:
I know who they are, so long as they abide by the rules, they are welcome.
I have been told I am not taking the high road, but in fact I am taking the very high road.
Besides, most of my bloggers are responsible contributors.
When I resumed this publication after returning to the Valley, I did not suspect I would eventually get so much flak from the other publication — Myharlingennews — nor did I suspect that some other publication operator would come aboard and try to tell me how to operate my business.
And, when I did not, start picking away at me.
But, now that I ignore all those, I feel great.
Things are well in my real world too.
I may work prior to and during the San Antonio football extravaganza Alamo Bowl in late December.
I may be involved in a winter professional baseball league here in the Valley, it it develops.
My former professional singer daughter Charlie, (at least she is not singing now that she has married) has returned home to Houston with her
husband, Robert, after a real nice visit here.
Two of my sons are working toward the release of the eldest’s movie, Dreams Awake, filmed in California. Son Jerry wrote the script and directed it. Youngest son is handling the public relations and other matters.
One granddaughter is a student at Texas A&M, studying to be a veterinarian, Other grandchildren are also attending colleges
Then, another granddaughter (Megan Van Groll) was recently written up in a national publication stating she is one of the upcoming artists in the U.S. That is artist as in art.
I am so very fortunate in having such a talented and close family, plus all very good looking (sans me).
How much better can it get?
Jerry your blog as Myharlingennew and the Tribune, provide good information. Articles are suppose to be provocative and generate comments. The Tribune does well in that area. As does myharlingennew and Myleadernews. I give the three blogs a solid A.
I believe the big difference between your posts and the other local one is that, No. 1, you do not clutter up yours with unwanted handouts that no one reads, just so you can say you have the most articles; No. 2, your bloggers (with maybe the exception of me) overall seem to be better educated and you do not have so many malcontents, including the publisher, who just banter back and forth, back and forth; No. 3, you allow everyone to comment, whether or not you agree with them; and No. 4, you do not maliciously write about people, if you say things about them, they are factual or at least just something you do not agree with them on.
You may not be the Number One in Quantity (including those absurd handouts from politicians near election time), you are the Number One publication in quality. Myleadernews overall is No. 1 by a long shot.
Donna, can I add something concerning “the other blog”. Myself and P.Alcatraz were going at it there, while he (Alcatraz) was in one of his many guises of course, and we got into it quite forcefully. To the point that we must have induced at least 30+ comments just between the two of us. Well, “coincidentally” the following day, T. Chapa was boasting about his suddenly high comment count. I tried to supplant that the reason was that Alcatraz and myself were going at it. He commented that the high count had nothing, whatsoever, to do with us. Hmmm.

TC just had to come up with something after you ran this item. He is such a jerk, I say that because I can’t say on this blog what I feel he really is.
Jerry Deal responds: Tony Chapa has his way of doing and saying things on his publication the same as I have my way. However, I honestly believe my publication to be Number One when it comes to presenting articles in a professional and objective manner, except, of course, the Real Deal column, which comes under editorial comments. He gets more blogs, but quite a few are those fighting among themselves.
Donna, I agree with you on all of your points with the exception of No.2. I prefer debate instead of banter.
I do not always agree with what or how it is stated but again I prefer debate more than being compared as those fighting among themselves.
Someone had commented on the other blog how the Valley Morning Star had not ran the article on their website about the downtown district vote hitting a snag. I checked and yep, they still have not put it up. I also noticed you have not commented on the article Mr. Deal. What is your take on it and the whole situation going on with downtown?
John, I know what you mean about that T.Chapa dude. I’m still trying to figure him out. Gonna reserve my official comments about him for a while. At least until I have him figured out to the best of my satisfaction. But I will admit that my first impressions of him have the word “weird” in it.

Watch your behind, Mr. Deal, the enemy troops, headed by one Tony Chapa, are coming after you. Apparently you saying that many of his bloggers are those fighting among themselves, made him angry and he wants his bloggers to attack your bloggers, and obviously you. This man is so mean spirited, Iwonder how he can look himself in the mirror. In some cases, that is impossible for the bloggers to fight because they blog on both publications. Some, I suspect, use different names on their bloggings in the two pubs.
I read something quite akin to what Hector is saying on Chapa’s blog. It is there, for anyone to read. When I saw it I just glanced and did not pay proper attention since my wife and I were on our way out. But now, I’m
gonna go check it out. It did mention something about both blogs going at it about something or another. On another post,though, he mentions something about how Jerry’s readers are racists or those who want to be just like them. Interesting, gonna go check it out.

Jerry Deal responds: I really do not get excited about what is written about me or my publication on that or any other publication. I did at one time, but it is very foolish to do so since the comments made against me and the publication have been so wrong. I stand on my reputation and honesty in reporting.

Tony Chapa, champion of the not reliable, not so famous, has started the attack, making me the proud person of the first attack. I bet this guy is really seething.
Hmmm, just sondering, if Myharlingennews is No. 1, why did Tony Chapa pull the poll he started to do, asking bloggers to name which publication they thought was the best — pulled when the voting was going for Myleadernews?
Also, wondering, why Tony Chapa, always pushing others to register to vote, then does not have a registration himself. Is he perhaps not a U.S. citizen?
Also, it’s pretty easy to operate your blog 24/7 when you are not employed.

I just hope everyone who can read, notices that Tony Chapa has refused or at least avoids to answer why he is not regIstered to vote and I ask if it is because he is not a United States citizen. HE WILL NOT ANSWER!
He also refuses to answer why he pulled that poll when he thought his bloggers would name his publication as beter over Myleadernews, but when Myleadernews went out front he pulled it. HE WILL NOT ANSWER!!

Another thing I am interested in finding out. Does John Wood know he is advertising on Myharlingennews? If he does, how much is he paying? Does Tony Chapa know that if he is offering it for free that unless it is listed as a donation he could get Mr. Wood in trouble, without it being his fault, just stupidity on the part of Chapa.
I would much like to ask these questions on Myharlingennews, but I know they would be killed out immediately, by the coward of the county.

Jerry Deal, I am new to the blog. Been coming over for about 2 weeks now. I am enjoying it very much. I’ve been banned from one blog. And I blame it on the fact that for over 3 years, the only blog that I would participate in was El Rocinante. Where you could if you had to, let it all hang out. I’m more than sure that is the reason I got kicked out of P. Alcatraz’s blog. On top of the fact that he is a major A-hole. I’m trying to get used to being “proper” and if I offend anyone I will appreciate being corrected. By the editor as well as anybody else. I’m retired federal law enforcement and here I am.

I will say one thing that if Eliot, or what name he wants to use, really thinks that Tony Chapa is the salvation of Hispanics in Harlingen, or just the salvation of saving Harlingen, he is less intelligent than I had suspected.Tony can’t spell, Tony can hardly write and only lives off hate and racism. Yes, he’s done the exact same thing to me too. But to take it just a few steps further, though, I had it out with Alcatraz, elcomedor,ronmexico,and so on and so forth, with Alcatraz and his sock puppets at cussing me like it was going out of style. And I kept pleading with Tony about Alcatraz’s foul language, of which I did not use any, and Tony kept siding with Alcatraz. He spouted things about my mother, my supposed homosexuality and so on and so forth. And it all began because I pointed out to somebody about Alcatraz and his sock puppets. I mean, he took extreme offense to that. I’d show you proof, but Tony has since obliterated it.

The only proof that may have existed was in the hands of T. Chapa and his blog. I’ve been there and have searched to at least 10+ pages in the past but the post nor comments have ceased to exist. And that is because it just occurred about 10 days ago. T. Chapa took it upon himself to firstly, boast about his comment count due to Alcatraz’s and my confrontation. Secondly, Tony took it upon himself to go and completely erase whatever proof of the confrontation that may have existed in his blog’s history. There are probably “commenters” here who witnessed the incident when it occurred, though.

I do not usually comment on Myleadernews or Myharlingennews, but I am compelled to say there seems to be some really disturbed (mentally) bloggers who contribute to them. I am sure you know who you are. Please take your meds, so you can join the rest of the area as solid citizens with rational thoughts.
I am in the medical profession with expertise in mental health and know what I am talking about.
I think most bloggers here got off the original subject. Yes, Myleadernews is a quality publication, looks professional and mostly is professional in its writing.
Those who read both Myleadernews and Myharlingennews surely see the difference in the two and realize that overall this is the one that is really Number One.

Still waiting for your explanation. If you arenot a U.S. citizen, why have you been in the U.S. and retired from a company (you say), but never took up a citizenship? I ask one more time, why are you not a registered voter and are you a U.S. citizen? You could easily clear this up.

Oh God, I know I said I was not going to do this until I was satisfied as to who Tony is, but oh well. I truly think he was something akin to an elementary school janitor. Who got used to just disposing of everything he would find, and took home whatever he could use. His parents were probably deported several times, to the point that they finally decided to just stay in Mexico where they belonged. And now he uses his blog to try and teach the “anglo”, “redneck”, “coconut” and “KKKer” his/her lesson.

Actually, I believe that Tony Chapa had something to do with real estate or titles or something like that. He retired from his company, but it was a mandatory thing, I am told.
The story I get is a bit sketchy, but it allegedly (as real news people say) involves a son or at least a relative, who either was charged with a crime or was the victim of a crime, which may or may not have been botched by the Harlingen Police Department, creating a longtime hatred of local police by Tony. This is real iffy, but one thing is for certain, his comaments indicate he does have a real hatred for the local police.
No doubt about it this is a professionally done publication. On a scale of one to 10, I would say about an eight. Could use more pictures, then maybe a nine or 10.
A belated note — You are doing just fine. I like your publication, I like that I can say what I feel without pressure from the publisher and I like the professionalism you demonstrate. Keep it going.
Mr. Deal, I think that based on many of the responses here you can safely say you have the best publication of the two local ones. Anyone can claim to be No. 1, but to demonstrate that you are No. 1 takes expertise and honesty.

In a way, I feel sorry for Tony because his publication has pretty much been taken over by “Eliot” etc. and he is not smart enough to realize it.
