Update: Myleadernews publisher happy with decisions and life

September 5, 2010

THE REAL DEAL

By JERRY DEAL
This can be considered an update of the update.
It’s true that I am satisfied with the decisions I have recently made concerning the publication and also my real life.
I have not had any fits of anger, nor any sadness since I made these decisions.
First off, as previously stated, I no longer even look at the other local online publication, even though I know I am being bombarded with negative remarks (friends tell me) by those operating it (who is really in charge any more of operating it?)
What I plan to continue doing is presenting articles of interest and columns, perhaps controversial, perhaps not.
I have said and I repeat I do not plan on changing my rules — which are few — concerning blogs.
Anyone who abides by those rules can make statements here.
I have been told I must change because of so many bloggers who use various names. So what:
I know who they are, so long as they abide by the rules, they are welcome.
I have been told I am not taking the high road, but in fact I am taking the very high road.
Besides, most of my bloggers are responsible contributors.
When I resumed this publication after returning to the Valley, I did not suspect I would eventually get so much flak from the other publication — Myharlingennews — nor did I suspect that some other publication operator would come aboard and try to tell me how to operate my business.
And, when I did not, start picking away at me.
But, now that I ignore all those, I feel great.
Things are well in my real world too.
I may work prior to and during the San Antonio football extravaganza Alamo Bowl in late December.
I may be involved in a winter professional baseball league here in the Valley, it it develops.
My former professional singer daughter Charlie, (at least she is not singing now that she has married) has returned home to Houston with her
husband, Robert, after a real nice visit here.
Two of my sons are working toward the release of the eldest’s movie, Dreams Awake, filmed in California. Son Jerry wrote the script and directed it. Youngest son is handling the public relations and other matters.
One granddaughter is a student at Texas A&M, studying to be a veterinarian, Other grandchildren are also attending colleges
Then, another granddaughter (Megan Van Groll) was recently written up in a national publication stating she is one of the upcoming artists in the U.S. That is artist as in art.
I am so very fortunate in having such a talented and close family, plus all very good looking (sans me).
How much better can it get?

Jerry: To continue allowing this Ivan to post his psycho-babble tells me you have no interest in finding a higher road. I suggest you monitor this a bit better. Ivan is representing your standards here. Is this what you want? We can all play that game. Do yourself a favor while it is still possible. Ivan is Jake is Jake Blues is Ralphy is Ren is Renolds – the same prankster spewing the same personal attacks. Do the right thing. The price you pay for having him here is your credibility, your reputation. Stop the name-calling. It’ll get you in legal hot water faster than you can say, “What did I do?!!!!” Ivan has been dealt with elsewhere, and he has stopped his attacks on other blogs. You’re risking much publishing his character assassinations, Jerry… – Eliot, Editor, http://www.BrownsvilleHerald-Tribune.blogspot.com

Yada, yada, you Harliquin Romance novel writer. I’d seriously consider suicide if somebody ever called ME that. But to somebody with no shame whatsoever, guess it doesn’t matter, huh?
      Jake.

    eliot says:

“Ivan is Jake is Jake Blues is Ralphy is Ren is Renolds – the same prankster spewing the same personal attacks ”

hahahaha……isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black.

  3. Donna on September 8, 2010 at 4:39 pm

Hang in there Jerry Deal. Run your pub as you see fit, you certainly do not need anyone like Eliot telling you how you should do it.

    • Ivan Luvenko on September 8, 2010 at 5:57 pm

Get him, Donna! He’s obviously trying to do to Jerry, what he’s done to the poor brainless Tony. Very sad.
      Ivan.

You have just forced me, F Street. I love you. Ain’t a queer. But, thanks.
    Ivan.

Donna, Donna, Donna:…I’m not telling Jerry Deal how to do anything. He knows I endorse his Blog’s raison d’etre 100%. All I was addressing was the taking of his Blog by miscreant “commenters” who do no one any good. I’ve met and had coffee with Jerry Deal. He knows of my work in journalism and I know of his. There is mutual respect there. But, invariably, he draws people who really are only after me, because I banned them from The Tribune for comments not suited to my tastes. As for Born on F Street, well, you never caught onto the concept we use at The Tribune. Our intent never has been about “fooling” anyone. We choose to make our Blog interesting & entertaining. Somehow, that bothers a bunch of people, or should I say the many personalities of Jake and Ivan Luvenko, two repeat commenters on Jerry’s Blog who really are the same unemployed man. Ivan/Jake used to be a frequent commenter on El Rocinante in Brownsville – as Jake, jake Blues, ren, renolds, ralphy and Lupe and a host of other names. He is a world-class pest. When El Roci died, he came to The Tribune, where he found no audience for his stupidity and apparently lost his mind. Look, Jerry Deal will do what he wishes to do with this Blog. I have no problem with that and, really, wholeheartedly endorse it, as I similarly endorse Tony Chapa’s efforts on MyHarlingenNews.com Repeat, Donna: I have no wish to force Jerry into following my advice. It is simply offered… – Eliot, Editor, ww.BrownsvilleHerald-Tribune.blogspot.com

“As for Born on F Street, well, you never caught onto the concept we use at The Tribune. Our intent never has been about “fooling” anyone.”

Ahhhhhh……………..eliot. Unlike so many that populate the cesspool of the uneducated and illiterate that is MyHarlingenNews,I caught on a long time ago. I think it was your first posting at MHN and my subsequent venture into your make believe world that is “the tribune” that tipped me off. What you do at the tribune does not concern me. I don’t visit people’s homes and tell them how to decorate.

But, when you insert yourself into a group with the emotional and intellectual powers of kindergartners …..well, it’s sad. Sad for them and sad for you. Maybe you can get a book out of it titled “How I Bamboozled a Small Town Rabble”

Satire, sarcasm, over the top commentary and faux(I hope)emotional explosions. It doesn’t matter if your intent was “fooling” anyone…when your audience is composed of downtrodden and self pitying fools, it just happens.

On the other hand, maybe I am just one of your various personas, created as a foil to give eliot and patrick someone to rail against. Perhaps, Jake is ,too. hahahahahaha

      • Jake on September 10, 2010 at 12:38 am

Very well put, my friend. The only thing that I would like to add is that No, I am in no way infiltrated with the likes of idiots such as Alcatraz, Eliot, etc, etc, etc.
        Jake.

Warning: array_keys() [function.array-keys]: The first argument should be an array in /home/myleader/public_html/wp/wp-content/plugins/universal-post-manager/functions.php on line 1660

I guess that Tony is back in service, because I received a message from him. I know how frustrating it can be when you cannot relay your messages. However, the messages he has on his blog went unread by me, I zapped them. I feel that is better to not read his publication because of so many false comments made about me on his posts. He should perhaps consider doing the same with me.
As for changing my rules, I do not feel it is necessary at this time. This is not to say that this is written in stone, we all go through change (wheher we want to or not). Nothing to do with this blog, but President Obama preached on change and now there seem to be too many people without even $$ change.
I have had a good day attending the grand opening of the Los Fresnos Boys and Girls Club, and have taken photos and written a story about it. This is one organzation that is so important to the communities. No matter what you may feel about U.S. Rep. Solomon Ortiz, who was there, he did help in getting funding for this club’s new building.

    • Jake on September 10, 2010 at 12:56 am

Jerry, I believe it is now a consensus, that whatever Tony does, emails and a what not, he is merely obeying his masters at the Trib. You would think that he could see what is happening and demand in their faces to leave him and his blog be. But what can you expect from a poor retired janitor? He’s probably never made a single decision on his own. And it’s apparently kept him out of jail, so it must be a good thing. LOL!
      Jake.

  7. Ivan Luvenko on September 8, 2010 at 7:03 pm

Jerry, don’t allow Alcatraz or one of his many guises kiss your butt. In the first place, he’s been trained to do that. And obviously he’s been taught very well. Just don’t forget that he called you an “insipid redneck”.
He loves those words, which I’m sure were taught to him by an homosexual lover. I mean, insipid, lads, offending homosexuality, doesn’t all that say something? Anway, off for a couple of days. Luck.
    Ivan.

  8. Born on F Street on September 9, 2010 at 5:55 am

Remember boys,he could not call Jerry an “insipid redneck” without Jerry’s permission. I love that philosophy. Next time I call eliot a blathering idiot, I and everyone else will know I had his permission.

Please, eliot, do NOT call me any names that are unflattering. There, I have taken my permission away from you, lad. Please consider that revocation permanent.

  9. Sam Richter on September 9, 2010 at 2:45 pm

I have checked you out for some time but never felt compelled to comment. However, since there has been so much reported I decided to put my two cents in. I do not know who this Eliot is. At first, i thought he was sort of amusing, including all his other names, but I have since found he can wear thin. He may be a good writer and I am sure he knows that, but I don’t think he is the sort of person I would want to have as my friend. I think he would turn on you in a New York second if you did not go along with him. It seems as though there are those who have done just that.

    • Jake on September 10, 2010 at 1:45 am

When you write on a continuous basis, you kind of get into the habit of at least getting your spelling correct. And let’s not forget that “Alcatraz” has published several novels. All of them romance novels, in much the likeness of the Harlequin romance types. Nothing within the least on the level with Tom Clancy or even Stephen King. But none the less, they are apparently called novels. My wife says she’s enjoyed some of the Harlequin novels, but they’re absolutely nothing that I could read. So such are the “writings” that Alcatraz apparently “sells”.
      Jake.

  10. Cowboy Joe on September 9, 2010 at 4:20 pm

Not to be confused with the one who calls himself Cowboy.
I was told by my brother to take a look at this blog and the one by the name of Myharlingennews. There seems to be quite a bit of difference in the two. I am not a resident of the Valley, but live in Falfurrias, which is not all that far.
I will say that Myharlingennews has some weird writers, while this one is more mainline.

  11. Armando on September 9, 2010 at 6:45 pm

Keep up the good work and remember there are those who believe in what your write and are trying to accomplish.

  12. Hector Gutierrez on September 10, 2010 at 12:23 pm

Maybe we should all follow in Jerry Deal’s footsteps and not look at the vicious Myharlingennews. That way only the malcontents would read it and they could bicker back and forth until they realized they were just the few contributors.
Keep up the good work Jerry.
From a banned Myharlingennews former reader.

  13. Anonymous on September 10, 2010 at 12:51 pm

You have more people for you than you might realize. I read both blogs, but I find yours more professional.

  14. Jake on September 11, 2010 at 4:44 am

At T.Chapa’s blog, where he posted something supposedly written by the “Investigator” (probably aka Alcatraz) about how he witnessed Jerry Deal kissing Kory Marra, I commented that why doesn’t he just change his blog’s name to the National Enquirer blog. Posted it several times. They were immediately obliterated.
    Jake.

Jerry Deal responds: He must have pulled that “investigator” remark from Myleadernews because that comment was made here. (I happen to know who the writer is.) I am sure Tony did not include my answer that I posted.

  15. JaxTripper on September 11, 2010 at 7:35 am

I like what you have written here about the accomplishments of your family. It is rare for blogpubbers to reveal that much about their families. So much more believable with respect to true journalism than the other wannabes purporting to know about journalism and the inherent rules for responsible reporting. I rarely agree with you on anything you have written BUT my respect for your opinions has just risen 100%. I cannot say that about any of the other bloggers all of whom have ZERO respect due to their blind one-sided attacks.

  16. Hector Gutierrez on September 11, 2010 at 9:15 am

Nice column and I am glad you are satisfied with the way things are going for you and your family. I doubt that Tony Chapa is happy with his life and that is why he is so vicious. I wonder if fate dealt him a blow or if he is just naturally mean spirited.

  17. Born on F Street on September 11, 2010 at 2:32 pm

Congratulations, Jerry. It sounds like you have plenty to be proud of, including your stance to continue fair reporting and to allow uncensored blogging. Plus, you have an aggie grandaughter.

  18. Danny Zuniga on September 12, 2010 at 1:15 pm

Jerry my friend, keep up the good work. Its good to have you back in Harlingen and letting us tell it like it is!!!!!!! Tony Chapa take a hike!!!!!!!
