Editorial says ‘Time for a change’ in Anderson sex case

Editor’s Note: This editiorial message was forwarded to Myleadernews from former City Commissioner Robert Leftwich. See related article here.

It was just a matter of time before Carlos Anderson tragically victimized more young girls after being set free as a result of a botched Harlingen Police Departdment investigation due to the disastrous leadership under former Chief Danny Castillo and Mayor Boswell.
The heart breaking news out of California that Anderson had sexually assaulted more young girls at yet another karate school only five months after being found not guilty in the Rio Grande Valley is devastating.
Many will remember the failure in Castillo’s leadership by delaying an investigation into the alleged heinous acts by Anderson because Anderson’s wife was an officer under Castillo, with Castillo ultimately handing off the investigation to one of the overworked Texas Rangers after cries of outrage by angry parents of the abused girls.
To add insult to injury, even after a grand jury indicted Anderson for multiple charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, Castillo did not immediately seek his arrest causing more outrage from the community for allowing an alleged sex offender to continue to have close contact with young girls.
Tragically, not only will those young girls of Harlingen be scarred for life, but needlessly even more young girls in California will forever endure the lifelong memories of the painful experience of Anderson’s abuse.
Mr. Boswell and Mr. Castillo are no strangers to lawsuits against the city for their negligence and incompetence, which has cost taxpayers dearly. But, if there is ever a time when one’s actions are harmful enough for drastic change, I think all will agree that the failure of leadership in the Anderson debacle rises to that level.
I believe it is in the best interest of the community that both Boswell and Castillo apologize to the victims and their families as well as to the Harlingen and San Jose communities for their failed leadership and that they both immediately resign their positions as public officials.

I want to add that Danny Castillo should be horswhipped for his neglegence in this matter. The mayor has to take part of the blame since he is the city’s leader.

This sicko needs to be put away for a long time. He has been running loose too many years. Who really knows how many girls he has abused, since there usually are those who keep it to themselves, at least for years. As for Danny Castillo, if it is true about him in the message, he needs to be punished too. I can’t see that Mayor Boswell is responsible in all this.

They both need to step down. Incompetence at it’s greatest should not tarnish this city further.

Just like what was stated, the lawsuits against HarlinJOKE are bad enough to prove this city has problems. Those with the Rose Colored Glasses will hear the continuing talk about the backwards ass leadership.

They can ignore and spin it all they want but now hopefully attention will be drawn nationally on all that is wrong in HarlinJOKE.

The DA was given a doomed case from the start once Castillo delayed the investigation and the full resourses of HPD were not used, the case fell apart. If it was not for angry parents involving Wolf the Texas Rangers would not have been asked to get involved. Boswell Was aware of the public outrage and did nothing.

Mr.Deal, untill Dan Castillo is rediculed publically he is not going to remove himself from the city commission. That man has no concious, and neither does the mayor.
Also, the VMS is derilecting their duties by not reporting many of these incidents. We need another newspaper.

So, now Robert Leftwich is an expert in criminal law and police investigations? His wealth of knowledge is just astounding (sarcasm emphasized). When he was a city commissioner we were often treated to his vast legal, aviation, waterworks and utilities expertise, not to mention his wacky conspiracy theories, etc. Personally, I have no idea whether Anderson is guilty or innocent. If Mr. Leftwich has proof, he should offer it up to investigators instead of trying and convicting him on this blog. Oh, and since when does the mayor have anything to do with police investigations? He is not in charge of the police department (nor the DAs office). He does not manage or oversee city departments. If a police investigation was botched, he would have no authority or knowledge. And wasn’t the judge or jury during the trial. He simply does not have the power to cover up things of this nature. That’s just ridiculous. Much like Mr. Leftwich’s level of expertise in any of the goings-on at city hall. This guy has been watching way too many Hollywood movies. This isn’t Gotham City.

How much did that annexation lawsuit Boswell botched cost taxpayers? Oh, but he had no hand in that.(sarcasm emphasized)

WOW! Justin Credible,if the parents of those poor children could only meet you face to face. What kind of worm would defend two COMMUNITY LEADERS WHO HAVE FAILED THE PUBLIC MISERABLY.

The mayor is elected and he has a duty to defend his constituents,as in knowing what is going on at HPD. If you are going to even try to state that he has no responsibility in doing so you are only kidding yourself. And as for the Dis’1 joke,he has proven over and over again that he is totally incompetent.

As for Leftwich, everything he presented and spoke of at city commission meetings was backed up by FACT. This can easily be proven by SIMPLY LOOKING AT THE RECORD.

By even trying to defend the failures of these two SUPPOSED city leaders, well,it just goes to show that you have no soul Justin Credible and you are indeed incredible in unjust ways.

Mr. Leftwich, let’s not forget that Danny Castillo allowed Ray Cavazos to walk away from criminal charges for stalking, photographing and sending explicit emails to a secretary in the department. Danny Castillo wouldn’t even protect his own employees. His out was that the secretary wouldn’t pursue the charges and as officer’s and former officer’s that’s wrong. If Danny Castillo had any balls, he would have filed on her behalf and allow the wheels of justice to turn but he only slapped the hand of a pervert and allowed him to stay with the department. Then, you have Danny Castillo allow Interim Chief Stephan Mayer and his unit to run up overtime numbers and possibly commit fraud on a U. S. Justice Grant. But then again, this is Harlingen where crime and corruption is allowed by our Mayor Chris Boswell and city officials.

Let me add to this list of Danny Castillo questionable tenure. Danny Castillo conspires with Stephan Mayer to become Ass’t Chief and proven in court along with Gabe Gonzalez. Then, Stephen Mayer covered up a false report by a sitting city commissioner which led to his getting first on the list of foreclosed homes and purchasing one.

Sorry Justin, you and your defenders of the wrongdoers cannot wiggle out of this one. Too much reality involved. Take off your rose colored glasses and see the real Harlingen world.

Remember Folks how I have stated that the truth can be buried but will always eventually surface. Well,I believe that the lies are starting to unravel. This may be the beginning of the end for all those who contribute to the crookedness in this town.

Are you kidding me? After the verdict the DAs office even said that molestation cases are very hard to prosecute. And Leftwich wants to lay the blame on the police chief and the mayor. Criminals escape justice all the time. Our judicial system is not perfect, but it’s the best in the world. I think Leftwich’s editorial is nothing but a publicity stunt. Obviously he is planning to run for office again and is desperately trying to take down those that pose a threat to him.

These cases are even harder to prosecute when the police department is told to take a hands off position. After being indicted Anderson was not arrested, and even missed his first arraignment becoming a fugitve, and Castillo still did not arrest him…he later turned himself in.

Tying into what Former HPD officer has stated on how bad HPD is run.

“a quota on warnings that is effectively used to suggest or implement a quota on traffic citations is in violation of Section 720.002.”

      On the subject of cops,

this article should be read and spread,we have cops like this and given we do have good cops as well but it seems that the bar for being a cop has been drastically lowered. This is the truth people and if you don’t wake up to protest with dissent,it will be to late.
