Villalobos, Lucio cases severed by court

U.S. District Judge Andrew Hamen has severed the criminial cases of former Cameron County District Attorney and his ex-partner Eddie Lucio.
Villolobos is scheduled to go on trial in May, with jury selection on May 1, and trial to commence on May 13.
The trial for Lucio has been tentatively scheduled for Aug.5.
Judge Hanen denied Lucio’s motion for a change of venue, at least for now.
Charges against the former district attorney include 12 counts of racketeering, conspiracy to violate the ROCO Act, three counts of honest services fraud plus seven counts of extortion.
Allegations against Lucio include six counts of conspiracy to violate RICO, two counts of honest serrvices fraud and three counts of extortion.
The charges against the two are involved with the former District Judge Abel Limas corruption case.
