WHITEWINGS TO HOST NATIONAL ANTHEM AUDITIONS SATURDAY

Harlingen – United League Baseball’s Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings announced today that they are holding tryouts for fans to sing the Star Spangled Banner at home games this season on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Harlingen Field.

The auditions will follow tryouts for local players, which begins at 10 a.m. Prospective players planning on participating can register in advance by calling the WhiteWings at 956-423-WING (9464). The cost of player tryouts is $45.

Participants must bring their own equipment and are advised to arrive early.

The WhiteWings open the 2010 season against Laredo Broncos on Thursday, May 27 at Veterans Field. The WhiteWings’ home opener is on Saturday, May 29 at 7:05 p.m. against the Edinburg Roadrunners at Harlingen Field. The WhiteWings will also host the Roadrunners in an 11:05 a.m. exhibition game on Monday, May 24.

The WhiteWings are members of United League Baseball, an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas. In its fifth season, the United League is gearing up for a great summer with teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Harlingen, Laredo, Robstown and San Angelo.

    Also, spring practice for the signed ball players begins on Sunday.

    Kudos to you for bringing us news of the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings. If it was up to the Valley Morning Star no one would even know we have a minor league baseball team in Harlingen.

    You certainly are welcome. Myleadernews and myself are committed to keep you posted with the events by the WhiteWings and the United League Baseball. It does not hurt that I aman official with the league.
    Myharlinennews.com also runs all the items that the public relations person for the Wings distributes. Hopefully, the Valley Morning Star will start running articles too since the season is getting near. First home gameis just 17 days away.
